How it works

  1. You get in touch

A call or a WhatsApp message is enough. Tell me briefly which watch it is.

A hand holding a watch bracelet
  2. First the dial

From the front, in daylight, no flash. The name on the dial must be readable.

  3. Then the back

The whole caseback with all engravings and numbers. That tells me the model.

  4. Crown and clasp

Also the bracelet with the clasp open. Please do not forget box and papers.

    Clasp of a steel bracelet
  5. I check

Within 1–2 working days I tell you what the watch is worth, and why.

  6. You decide

Keep it, have it valued in writing, sell it straight to me or let me sell it on commission. My offer is valid for 14 days.

  7. You get paid

If you sell: a written purchase contract and a bank transfer the same day.

A letter from Frederic Streminski

Frederic Streminski

Hello, I am Frederic Streminski and I deal in vintage watches in Frankfurt. I keep seeing the same thing: a watch is inherited, nobody knows what it is worth, and in the end it is sold for a fraction or sits in a drawer for years.

That is why this Kontor exists. Here you get an honest answer without committing to anything. I tell you the value, even when it is low. And I tell you openly that I also buy watches. You never have to sell.

I am not a lawyer, notary or tax advisor and do not advise on inheritance. I am not a gold buyer either: for gold and jewellery I am happy to advise and work with specialists from the trade. For everything else, I will gladly name someone.

Buyers have given me 4.9 out of 5 stars on Chrono24, from 110 reviews and 172 watches sold. I take time for your watch.

Common questions

Cost

No. The first estimate from photos or in conversation is free and without obligation. Only the written valuation certificate costs 79 €, and it is refunded if you sell to me.

Brands

Mainly mechanical wrist and pocket watches from known brands such as Rolex, Omega, Patek Philippe, IWC, Jaeger-LeCoultre, Longines, Heuer or Breitling, but also watches whose brand you do not know.

Repair

Very often, yes. Please do not have it polished, cleaned or repaired before an expert has seen it. That can reduce the value considerably.

Heirs

That is what the valuation certificate is for: a transparent value everyone can agree on. Heirs can only sell together. I need the consent of all co-heirs or a power of attorney.

Selling

No, never. You can keep the watch, sell it yourself, or take my estimate to another dealer.

Payment

By bank transfer, usually on the day of handover, with a written purchase contract. I only pay cash on your express request and only for small amounts.
